1. Get yourself signed in and looking at the main page of your blog. Up in the top right hand corner next to the New Post button you'll see another button: Customise. Clicking this button will bring you to the Layout Tab.
This area is where you are able to customise all the visual elements of your blog, from colour themes to what you see down the side of your page. You'll see text that reads Add and Arrange Page Elements, and below that you'll see all the elements of your blog.
2. Right now we're going to edit the header. At the top of the diagram of page elements you'll see a long thin box with the name of your blog followed by the word (Header). If you click the Edit button in this box you'll be allowed to edit its contents. This goes for any element of your blog: just click edit in the element's box to edit that element.
3. Clicking Edit will bring up a pop-up window for your Header. Here you can edit the blog title or add some text below that title to describe your blog to someone navigating onto your site.

You'll also see that you can Browse for an image from your computer. Before you browse for an image, decide on its placement. Below the Browse fields you'll see some options:
*Behind title and description
* Instead of title and description
If you are wanting to upload an image without any text that will serve as a background to the title imposed by the blog then select *Behind title and description. If you are uploading an image with text to replace the title imposed by the blog, then select *Instead of title and description.
Finally, select *Shrink to fit. This will constrain the proportions of your image so that it fits in the space provided. If you feel particularly savvy, you can even design your image to fit in the space provided, in which case you don't need to select *Shrink to fit. It will need to be no bigger than 660 pixels wide and around 150 pixels high.
4. You can now click Browse to select a picture from your computer. Once it's been uploaded click the Save button to apply it to your blog.
